Announcing the NRV Delta10: Pushing the Boundaries of Dynamic Vision Sensing

We are thrilled to officially unveil the NRV Delta10, our next-generation Dynamic Vision Sensor (DVS) designed to redefine the standards of high-speed, event-based vision capture.

The name “Delta” lies at the very core of our engineering philosophy. Unlike conventional frame-based cameras, the NRV Delta10 operates on the principle of change—specifically, the delta of light intensity over time. Each pixel on the sensor operates asynchronously and independently, continuously monitoring its environment and generating an event output only when the change in light intensity exceeds a precisely configurable threshold. This biologically-inspired approach allows for unparalleled efficiency, speed, and dynamic range.

Architectural Breakthroughs for Precision and Speed

The NRV Delta10 features a highly refined 4.95 µm pixel pitch and delivers a crisp 960x720 resolution. To provide engineers and researchers with maximum flexibility, we have implemented highly configurable thresholds to fine-tune sensitivity, alongside adjustable readout speeds to manage the effective scan rate based on application requirements.

Furthermore, we’ve integrated advanced architectural features to solve common challenges in high-speed event capture:

  • Global Hold Functionality: By utilizing a sequential event readout scheme equipped with Global Hold, the Delta10 captures ultra-fast movements with drastically reduced motion artifacts, ensuring clean data even in highly dynamic environments.
  • Global Reset Functionality: To maintain signal integrity and reduce data noise, the sensor utilizes a Global Reset mechanism that actively rejects unwanted tail events.

The technological foundation of the NRV Delta10 is the culmination of years of rigorous research and development. The core operational principles powering this sensor are deeply rooted in our previously published, peer-reviewed architectures featured in ISSCC 2017 (“A 640×480 dynamic vision sensor with a 9µm pixel and 300Meps address-event representation”) and ISCAS 2020 (“A 1280x960 Dynamic Vision Sensor with a 4.95-μm Pixel Pitch and Motion Artifact Minimization”).

Production-Ready Camera Systems

To bridge the gap between sensor innovation and real-world application, we are excited to announce that we have two production-ready camera systems integrating the NRV Delta10 chip, available to ship immediately:

  1. The High-Performance 10Gbps Model: Built for uncompromised speed, this model utilizes a high-bandwidth 10Gbps USB interface. It is capable of transmitting over 2,000 event frames per second with zero event drops, entirely bypassing the bandwidth bottlenecks that typically limit high-speed DVS applications.
  2. The Standard 1Gbps Model: Utilizing a standard USB 3.0 Type-C interface (< 1.3Gbps), this highly versatile model comfortably delivers up to 1,000 event frames per second, making it ideal for a wide array of industrial, robotics, and edge-computing applications.
